Cordal GAA Wins SuperValu Provincial GAA Community Fund Competition

The news has spread throughout the community this morning that Cordal GAA has won the Munster section of the SuperValu Community Fund Competition. Entering this fantastic competition was the brainchild of our hard-working PRO Nora Fealey and a few weeks back decided that our story would be the perfect candidate for the prize, and it looks like she was right!

Included in the entry, she listed all the hard work, dedication, community spirit and passion for GAA that is moving this small but progressive club forward at great speed. She discussed the plight of our playing surface, that reached national notoriety earlier this year and this coupled with the clubs spirit was enough for the judges to award Cordal first prize of €5000, but the good news doesn’t stop there.

We are now entered into the All-Ireland Grand Prize against the other 3 provincial winners with the over-all winner collecting an additional €5000 and the chance to hold a Gala dinner in the club hosted by GAA President Liam O’ Neill. Winner of the grand prize will be named on September 11th.

Every member has been truly working so hard to raise funds for the development of our new field and winning this will go a very long ways in easing the burden on the fund-raising committee and the club members. It will also create a great buzz around the place for the foreseeable future.

SuperValu are also running a billboard campaign that will feature our senior team and there will be a piece written in the Sunday World profiling the club. The club at this point would like to thank Nora for all her work in giving us this opportunity and to all members who are helping this become a historic year for this fantastic club. Let’s hope we can go on and win the All-Ireland now.
